The Hawaii Army National Guard (HIARNG) conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) at Kalaeloa on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. The Kalaeloa AASF will be used for the maintenance of and flight operations for the CH-47 Chinook, the UH-60 Black Hawk, and the UH-72 Lakota.
This is the third AASF that the HIARNG utilizes. The other two are located at Wheeler Army Air Field and in Hilo, at Lyman Field. The groundbreaking was in 2015 and the total cost of the new AASF included $33.4 million in federal and $4.51 million in state general obligation bond funds.
