11th Marine Regiment celebrates its centennial with a battle colors ceremony honoring its history and heritage Jan. 9 at 9:00 a.m. at the Camp Pulgas gymnasium aboard Camp Pendleton.
The centennial celebration unites current and former Marines serving in the 11th Marine Regiment as they rededicate their battle colors with awards and campaign streamers from the regiment's campaigns including World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The regiment, commonly known as "Cannon Cockers" among the Marines, is the artillery regiment under the command of the 1st Marine Division. (U.S. Marine Corps video by LCpl. Mike Hernandez and LCpl. Preston Hightower)
