BARRANQUITAS, Puerto Rico, March 13, 2018 - Survivors of Barranquitas celebrate the rebuilding of the bridge on PR-152 after it collapsed due to the effects of Hurricane María. The affected road connects the municipalities of Barranquitas and Naranjito, and makes way for the main economic source of Barranquitas, called the "Ruta Gastronómica". It's also the first bridge that was permanently rebuilt after the passing of the hurricane. The work would normally take 8 months, but thanks to the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation, FEMA, federal partners, and the dedication of contractors, it only took 3 months to be completed. The route leads to a great number of restaurants and local eateries that provide a good source of income for the municipality.
