Robotic and Autonomous Systems (RAS) were employed during the Robotic Complex Breach Concept at Grafenwoehr, Germany, March 27-April 6, 2018, as part of Joint Warfighter Assessment 18.1. The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) functioned as the lead technology system integrator while conducting protocol experimentation at the risk mitigation event. TARDEC, along with other Department of Defense Organizations including Armaments Research, Development, and Engineering Center (ARDEC), Communications-Electronics Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CERDEC); Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Division (NVESD), PEO Missile Systems, Joint Project Manager for NBC Contamination Avoidance, Pacific Command (PACOM), and others provided systems for enhanced warfighting potential of Manned Unmanned Teaming for Ground (MUM-T (G)). Maneuver Battle Lab, with the Maneuver Center of Excellence, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, Marine Corps Warfighting Lab, and TRADOC Analysis Center (TRAC) provided assessment and analysis. The team investigated RAS ability to enable formations in terms of reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition (RSTA) capabilities, and assess the current state of supporting technologies. Results of this assessment will be utilized to advance continued technological developments and address the doctrinal, organizational, training, and materiel implications.
