For over a century and a half, the South Dakota National Guard has a long and proud tradition of service to their communities and country. It's a story of Citizen-Soldiers, beginning with some of the first settlers of the Dakota Territory and continued by generations of men and women who volunteered to provide for the common defense of their state and nation. This highlights this proud tradition continued by today's South Dakota National Guard. It was produced in April 2018 with historical imagery culled from SDNG historical archives from various operations and missions and open source, free public use imagery spanning 1889 to 2018.
