National Guard Personnel Begin Working at Del Rio Sector
Operation Guardian Support Helps Get ‘Badges Back to the Border’
DEL RIO, Texas — The U.S. Border Patrol’s Del Rio Sector is benefitting from National Guard deployment as part of Operation Guardian Support.
“This week National Guard personnel began working at various locations throughout Del Rio Sector,” said Felix Chavez, Chief Patrol Agent for Del Rio Sector. “Operation Guardian Support has allowed National Guard personnel to fill support roles, allowing us to send badges back to the border.”
National Guard personnel are assigned to various locations throughout the sector. They serve in support roles such as administration and training, allowing more Border Patrol agents to return to their primary law enforcement duties. National Guard personnel deployed for Operation Guardian Support are not armed and do not engage in enforcement operations in the field.
