    5th Marine Regiment Marines, Sailors and veterans dedicate the Vietnam memorial during an official unveiling ceremony on Memorial Day, May 28 at the Camp San Mateo Memorial Garden on Camp Pendleton. The memorial holds the names of the 2,706 Marines and Sailors who fought and lost their lives serving under the 5th Marine Regiment during the Vietnam War. The 5th Marine Regiment is recognized as the Marine Corps' most decorated regiment. In May 1966, 5th Marines deployed to the Republic of South Vietnam and remained until April 1971. During the war, the regiment fought in battles at Rung Sat, Chu Lai, Phu Bai, Hue, Khe Sahn, An Hoa and Da Nang. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Branden Bourque)
