Members of the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service, 2nd School conducted Military Operations on Urbanized Terrain training as part of an Urban Warfare Training exercise held at the Besmayah Range Complex outside of Baghdad, Iraq. Urban warfare is combat conducted in urban areas such as towns and cities. This type of training is conducted in order to capitalize on the strategic or tactical advantages with which possession or control of a particular urban area denies the advantage to an enemy such as the Islamic State. Coalition Forces assisted CTS instructors with training members on learning and practicing the five rules of room clearing, which include the following: Through the door, clear your near corner, run your wall, collapse your sector, and communicate.
