HH-60M Black Hawk flight crews, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Hawaii, provide local area orientation to identify the most damaged areas of concern as part of Joint Task Force 5-0. The task force was established to respond to the effects of Hurricane Lane on the State of Hawaii, on Aug. 28, 2018.
Local authorities and the State of Hawaii, through JTF 5-0, requested HH-60M Black Hawk helicopters with hoist capability to assist local authorities with recovery operations on the Isle of Hawaii.
JTF 5-0 is a joint task force led by a dual status commander that is established to respond to the effects of Hurricane Lane on the State of Hawaii. The Hawaii National Guard and Active Duty Soldiers of the task force remain committed to monitoring effects and incidents across the State of Hawaii to respond to any requests made by local and state authorities through FEMA.
