The Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy is a free, voluntary program designed to train and mentor selected at-risk youth ages 16 to 18-years-old to become contributing members of society using the program’s eight core components in a quasi-military environment. The residential phase is 22-weeks and is designed to give academically challenged teens a chance to obtain their basic education or earn their high school diploma. A one year post-residential follow-up program is included in the curriculum for long-term student success. MCA is the recipient of the 2018 Exemplary Partnership Award for Student-centered Support from The Education Alliance. (U.S. Army National Guard video by Spc. Brianna Lawrence)
