Marines and Sailors with Company G, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, launch Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC) from the well deck of the amphibious transport dock USS Green Bay (LPD 20) during amphibious raid training, underway in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 20, 2018. Marines with BLT 2/5, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Ground Combat Element, and Sailors with the Green Bay refine CRRC operations in order to quickly and efficiently deploy in and out of the well deck of the ship. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide-range of military operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
