Joint Region Marianas public affairs specialist, Brad Ruszala, reports on Super Typhoon Yutu debris clean-up efforts Nov. 14, 2018, in Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands from the As Gonno staging area established by Saipan mayor, David Apatang. At the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, service members have joined forces with the mayor’s office and the Department of Public works to clear the villages of the estimated 200,000 tons of storm debris. Joint Region Marianas and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command leaders are coordinating with FEMA, Guam and CNMI’s civil and local officials to assess the impacts of Typhoon Yutu and determine Department of Defense support as part of recovery efforts.
