U.S Army Reserve Soldiers used M1151 up-armored HMMWVs during Operation Cold Steel III gunnery at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif. from January 22 to February 16, 2019. Gunnery crews got familiarized with crew-served weapon systems, then spent time in virtual reality simulators before heading to the live-fire ranges while being evaluated by experienced graders. Operation Cold Steel III trains and qualifies Army Reserve Soldiers on M2 .50 caliber machine guns, M19 40 mm automatic grenade launchers and M240 7.62 mm machine guns weapons systems in ground and mounted military vehicles, in order to provide lethal and combat ready units ready to deploy anywhere in the world.
