U.S. Customs and Border Protection along with Homeland Security Investigations and the DEA and multiple other law enforcement agencies in Michigan have announced the newly established Global Trade Task Force (GTTF) and Operation Alliance, which was conducted during the month of February at various CBP locations throughout Michigan. The Primary focus of this task force along with its initial operation is the examination of commercial shipments and counterfeit pharmaceuticals in the express carrier, U.S. foreign mail/Canadian Post, and the outbound rail environment. During the first week of Operation Alliance the newly formed Trade Task Forced seized over $1.1million in illegal narcotics and counterfeit goods.
