Established in 1942, Camp Pendleton's air facility was re-designated as Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton in 1985, and honorably named Munn Field in 1987. The air station maintains and operates facilities designed to support flight operations of a Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine reserve aircraft wing, and a Marine Expeditionary Force.
