Marines and Sailors with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit led a series of joint-training missions with multiple units in Okinawa, Japan, and other locations in the Indo-Pacific region, March 11-14, 2019, as part of Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations. Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit are conducting simulated EABO in a series of dynamic training events to refine their ability to plan, rehearse and complete a variety of missions. During EABO, the 31st MEU partnered with the 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Logistics Group and 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, and airmen with the U.S. Air Force 353rd Special Operations Group, planning and executing training mission sets for military operations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed MEU partnering with the U.S. Navy's Amphibious Squadron 11, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
