Misawa service members and families share their personal experiences with suicidal ideations and the strategies and tools they used to overcome their own depression and anxiety. They hope by sharing their stories other will seek help before it's too late.
In recent years, the Air Force has revised its suicide prevention strategies and policies through a focus on optimizing our culture, promoting problem solving, enhancing overall fitness and wellness, instilling resilience, and caring for those in distress.
This strength-based approach emphasizes, normalizes and encourages help-seeking behaviors while capitalizing on positive individual and community qualities to provide the necessary resources and interpersonal relationships that will help resolve issues and increase resiliency.
The Air Force seeks to engage Airmen and empower them with tools and skills to recognize a friend, family, or co worker in distress, and to increase their confidence and competence in finding and using suicide prevention programs, skills and resources.
