The 413th Chemical Company and 456th Area Support Medical Company conducts simulated recon and decontamination at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Indiana during Guardian Response 19. Guardian Response 19 is a joint, multi-component training exercise controlled by the U.S. Army Reserve 78th Training Division and includes more than 9,000 service members from across the country. The exercise tests the ability of the U.S. military as part of the Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) program in the event of a chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear catastrophe. Under the DSCA program, the Department of Defense provides essential support to civil authorities for domestic emergencies.
