The crew of a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew rescues three boaters after their sailboat began to take on water and sink 19 miles off Hatteras, North Carolina, May 17, 2019.
The Coast Guard launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City and dispatched a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Station Hatteras Inlet. Once on scene, the Jayhawk crew discovered that the water was knee-deep. The crew hoisted the three mariners from the sinking vessel and transported them back to the air station as the sailboat sank.
