Tuesday, June 6, 1944, American troops performed a huge operation in what history knows as the Invasion of Normandy. The battle for Normandy is among one of the many fronts that took place on the beaches of Western Europe part of Operation Overlord. More than 160,000 Allied troops participated in the invasion. Establishing a foothold that guaranteed victory in Europe against the Axis powers.
