Airmen and Soldiers from the Tennessee Air and Army National Guard conduct mass casualty medical training June 1, 2019 at the Smyrna Airport, Smyrna, Tennessee. Cadets from the Tennessee Volunteer Challenge Academy served as patients and were loaded onto a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft from the 164th Airlift Wing. The Tennessee State Guard and several private medical providers also worked in conjunction with the Tennessee National Guard. Shaken Fury 19 is a Federal Emergency Management Agency led exercise simulating a catastrophic earthquake along the New Madrid Seismic Zone near Memphis, Tennessee. The purpose of the exercise is to examine and improve the community's response to a "no-notice" earthquake, recognize shortfalls in resources, and develop a coordinated recovery strategy plan.
