Airmen from the 446th Bomb Group, along with hundreds of thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen, take part in Operation Overlord, also known as D-Day, June 6, 1944. Allied Forces invaded northern France and would march on towards Berlin, Germany, to defeat the Nazi war machine during World War II. The 446th Airlift Wing descends from the 446th Bomb Group and takes pride in this rich heritage.
