The Tennessee National Guard conducted a mass casualty medical evacuation training event, June 1, 2019 at Smyrna Airport, Smyrna, Tennessee. Training conducted supported Shaken Fury 2019. Shaken Fury is a Federal Emergency Management Agency led exercise simulating a catastrophic earthquake along the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) near Memphis, Tennessee. The purpose of the exercise is to examine and improve the community's response to a "no-notice" earthquake, recognize shortfalls in resources, and develop a coordinated recovery strategy plan.
