On June 29th at Fort Benning, the garrison opened the installation’s gates to the public welcoming them to join in on an early Independence Day Celebration with Soldiers and their families. One of the reasons for this early celebration is to allow Soldiers to travel during the holiday with family and friends.
According to an estimate from the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, which organized the event, 20,000 people attended the event. The is Fort Benning's way of giving thanks to the community and the soldiers welcoming them to a patriotic and exciting celebration.
