WWII Veterans, part of the famed 12th Armored Division "Hellcats," and their families visit NORAD and U.S. Northern Command July 26, 2019, at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Senior leadership, special guests and service members were honored to meet with the veterans and thank them for their selfless service and sacrifice. The 12th Armored Division was recognized as a liberating unit by the U.S. Army's Center of Military History and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1988. In 1945, the Hellcats liberated tens of thousands of concentration camp prisoners that were experiencing deplorable conditions. Shocked and in disbelief, the Hellcats buried the dead and comforted the survivors with food, clothing and medical assistance. (Video Courtesy of Lewis Carlyle)
