Family works to have Ohio Vietnam Veteran's medals re-issued after they were stolen many years ago.
It was a special weekend for a local Vietnam Veteran, Sgt. Gerald Meyer, as family gathered to present him with military medals he earned while serving in the U.S. Army – medals that were stolen from his home many years ago.
What made this presentation so special? It was his family members who made it their mission to work with the Department of Defense and National Archives to have each medal reissued to Sgt. Meyer.
We were honored to attend and watch as family members read each official medal citation, describing Sgt. Meyer’s many acts of courage and valor.
