Vice-Almirante (Brazilian Lt. Gen.) Paulo Martino Zuccaro, comandante do Material de Fuzileiros Navais (commandant of the Brazilian Marine Corps) and U.S. Marine Maj. Gen. Michael F. Fahey III, commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South, attend the closing ceremony for UNITAS LX at Ilha do Governador, Brazil, Aug. 30, 2019. This ceremony officially marks the end of the exercise for all partner nations involved. UNITAS is the world's longest-running, annual exercise and brings together multinational forces from 11 countries to include Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Mexico, Great Britain and the United States. The exercise focuses in strengthening the existing regional partnerships and encourages establishing new relationships through the exchange of maritime mission-focused knowledge and expertise during multinational training operations.
