Three hundred and thirty two U.S. service members from all over Kuwait tested their mettle by completing a more than a century old Norwegian military tradition, the Norwegian Foot March, held at Camp Buehring, Kuwait Oct. 19, 2019. With the successful completion of the event, service members earned the coveted, "Norwegian Det Militære Marsjmerke" badge. Among other rigors, foot marchers completed the 30 kilometer march within the prescribed time for their age group while carrying a 25 lb. backpack or rucksack. For males up to the age of 34 the minimum time for completion was four hours and 30 minutes. A key element of completing the march mandates that participants must also complete the march and be healthy enough to report for duty the same day. Event, organizers from Task Force Warhawk's 8th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 229th Aviation Regiment and Soldiers of the 129th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, noted that of the 332 who participated, 281 passed the march and earned the badge.
