SIERRA ARMY DEPOT, California – The 531st Hospital Center, 44th Medical Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, was alerted Oct. 17, 2019, with no-notice, and required to emergency deploy to Sierra Army Depot (SIAD) and conduct a 148 bed, medical readiness training exercise that ended Nov. 8th. The hospital center deployed with the 586th Field Hospital, the 175th Surgical Detachment, the 41st Medical Detachment, and the 431st Intermediate Care Ward Detachment. Once established at SIAD, the hospital center assumed operational control of the 115th Field Hospital already deployed, some 500 miles away, to the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California that was supporting a 3rd Cavalry Regiment training rotation there.
