Tech. Sgt. Ashley Shetland of the 110th Wing, Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, Michigan, is an Occupational Safety Specialist. As part of her duties, she is visiting squadrons around the base to continue to build on solid relationships to reinforce the Wing's safety program.
“Safety is important to our mission because without people, you have no mission. Without safety you have no people,” says Shetland.
Shetland says she “accidentally fell into safety" after coming from Services field after almost 8 years of service. She is originally from Hawaii and currently commutes almost nine hours from Missouri to serve at the 110th Wing on drill weekends. She says she loves applying risk management to her home and work life because it is crucial to always be prepared. (U.S. Air National Guard video by Senior Airman Gary Leonard)
