Hello … I’m General Mike Garrett, along with CSM Cornelison, and we are encouraging you to make smart and safe choices this Holiday Season.
Americans across the country will take to the roads over the next month, more than any other time of the year -- this includes our Soldiers, Civilians, and Families. While you take a well-earned break this Holiday Season, I urge you to plan your activities with care and make smart decisions that will keep you and your Family safe.
Manage risks off-duty as aggressively as you do on-duty. Prior to road travel, think carefully about the serviceability of your vehicle, sharing driving responsibilities, planning rest stops, and the impact of fatigue on your driving skills. Never consume alcohol before driving. Avoid the distractions of cell phones, and, most importantly, ensure everyone in your vehicle wears their seatbelt.
Nothing saves more lives than seatbelts – always buckle-up! The holidays are a special time for all Americans -- and we have much to celebrate and be grateful for during this season.
As we start the New Year, let’s do so with all of our FORSCOM teammates home and safe.
