Ruben Cruz says he has been fascinated by science and engineering since he was a high school student. That's part of what drove him to the Army's Artificial Intelligence Task Force at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Cruz is an attorney specializing in contracts and acquisition. He helps establish AI programs through procurement mechanisms such as cooperative agreements with universities, financial grants for researchers and contracts with small businesses.
