    Tech. Sgt. Patty Boyer and Tech. Sgt. Rick Boyer first met at Northern Strike 2015, were married in 2017, and Patty gave birth to their first child in 2018. "If it wasn't for Northern Strike, we wouldn't be where we are today." They now work together in the Michigan Air National Guard at Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), Mich. Tech. Sgt. Patty Boyer works in Cyber Systems Operations, in the Live Mission Operations Capability Node. Tech. Sgt. Rick Boyer is a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) Instructor working at the Grayling Air Gunnery Range attached to Alpena CRTC. This week they are supporting Northern Strike 20-2/"Winter Strike".

    Northern Strike 20-2/”Winter Strike” is a National Guard Bureau- sponsored exercise uniting service members from several U.S. states and coalition nations from January 20-26, 2020 at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center and Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, Mich., part of Northern Michigan’s joint military training complex facilitated by the Michigan National Guard. As part of the Northern Strike exercise program, NS 20-2/”Winter Strike” is an accredited Joint National Training Capability exercise that capitalizes on the Michigan National Guard’s premier facilities – including more than 145,000 acres of ground maneuver area and the largest military operating airspace east of the Mississippi River – as a venue for U.S. and coalition forces to receive adaptive, joint fires readiness-building opportunities for military units from all service branches in challenging weather conditions.
