The Chemical Biological Incident Response Force out of Indian Head, MD, came to Camp Dawson, WV; to train in a cold weather environment, in preparation for a training mission in Alaska. The Marines CBIRF Battalion training was to respond to a chemical device detonating, which involved the Marines surveying the area for contaminants, extracting casualty, and decontamination procedures. The Volkstone training site at Camp Dawson, offered the Marines a wide variety of scenarios, in a realistic environment.
