On February 23, 2020, approximately 900 Thai and American Soldiers were in attendance for the kick-off of Exercise Hanuman Guardian at Camp Friendship in Korat, Thailand. The Soldiers heard speeches from USARPAC Deputy Commanding General Maj. Gen Pete Johnson, and 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team Commander Col. John Lubas. They emphasised the importance of keeping the Pacific pathways safe and free, and the importance of working with our Thailand allies. The purpose of this exercise is to sustain long-standing relationships between the U.S. Army and Royal Thai Army. The American and Thai forces will be cross-training each other on tactics, techniques, and procedures to develop interoperability between forces. The exercise is three months long and will take place all across Thailand.
