Army Reserve Lt. Col. Robert Bassett, an emergency physician and medical toxicologist with Urban Augmentation Medical Task Force (UAMTF) 811-1, gives a Mother's Day shout-out to his family in Media, Pa., and friends at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, while augmented to Stamford Health-Bennette Medical Center, Stamford, Conn., April 23, 2020. Bassett and his team are assisting medical soldiers with the Connecticut Army National Guard and hospital staff in the efforts to increase the care capacity and treatment ability of COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients, alleviating civilian providers from having to manage lower priority patients. The UAMTF employs unique, expeditionary capabilities provided by U.S. Northern Command to support FEMA as part of a whole-of-nation response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
