In this installment of Hampton Roads History, Laura Orr, Director of Education at the Hampton Roads Naval Museum takes visitors virtually to the USS Iowa (BB 61) market at Naval Station Norfolk. The marker memorializes one of the worst incidents in surface navy history; the explosion of one of the ship's gun turrets in April 1989. This segment takes a closer look at the incident and includes organic b-roll along with archived imagery. This video segment was produced by the staff of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, and is also viewable on their YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/HRNavalMuseum.
