In this segment of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum's local history spotlights, Museum Educator Alicia Pullen takes visitors virtually to Monitor-Merrimac Overlook Park in Newport News, Virginia. The site was a witness to the worlds first battle of Ironclads, when in March 1862 the USS Monitor and CSS Virginia dueled just off shore in a battle that changed the course of naval history and innovation. In this spotlight, the site and the battle are portrayed in a historical perspective. This video, along with other local history segments, was produced by the staff of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum and is also viewable on their YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/HRNavalMuseum/featured.
