The rescue and salvage ship USS Grasp (ARS 51) and the rescue and salvage ship USS Grapple (ARS 53) conduct operations in response to the crashed Trans World Airlines (TWA) Flight 800 aircraft off the coast of Moriches, New York, July 29, 1996. TWA Flight 800 was a Boeing 747-100 aircraft that exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on July 17, 1996, after takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport on a scheduled international passenger flight to Rome, resulting in the death of all 230 individuals on board. (U.S. Navy video)
