In the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, men and women sign up to defend their countries as volunteer soldiers, balancing their military training with full-time jobs and their families. Many of these units are trained by U.S. Special Operations Forces, deployed to the Baltics as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve. They sharpen the volunteers's basic infantry skills while improve their ability to work together in the event of a crisis.
