Marines with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team (RCT) 7, 1st Marine Division Foward, I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward (I MEF FWD), were conducting clearing operations near Trek Nawa, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on July 22, 2010. During the operation, "troops in contact" was declared and two aircraft with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369, RCT-7, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Forward, I MEF (FWD), were dispatched to provide close air support. Dealer 54, an AH-1 Cobra that reported on station to support Marines on the ground, was shot down. This is the story of India Company's efforts to recover the pilots of Dealer 54, Lt. Col.
