The Mississippi Army National Guard held a sendoff ceremony for the 1108th Aviation Group at First Baptist Church of Biloxi in Biloxi, Mississippi. Approximately 20 Guardsmen will spend nine months in southwest Asia to provide high level aviation maintenance support to the active duty component. Most of the deploying Soldiers are sheet metal workers and machinists by trade but all possess multiple skill sets. Military leaders say in the past as many as 180 Soldiers deployed from 1108th Aviation Group to fulfill this mission but several factors including improvements in efficiency have enabled to military to deploy fewer craftsmen.
Interview is with Chief Warrant Officer 2 Donald Philips, 1108th Aviation Group
