U.S. Marines with Marine Air Traffic Control Detachment B (MATCD-B), Marine Air Control Squadron (MACS) 4, set up equipment during a training exercise aboard Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, Japan, Oct. 1, 2020. The purpose of this training was to provide each section of MATCD-B the ability to plan, deploy, and execute specific tasks to maintain proficiency to support their squadron's mission. The squadron's mission is to provide air surveillance and control of friendly aircraft and surface-to-air weapons in support of offensive air support and anti-air warfare, continuous all-weather radar, non-radar, tower air traffic control services, airspace management, and meteorological and oceanographic services in support of the Marine Air Ground Task Force and the Joint Force Commander.
