SAN DIEGO (Oct. 16, 2020) A b-roll package of prime cuts from two Augmented Reality Technology-Enabled Remote Integrative Surgery (ARTEMIS) Project sessions Oct. 15-16. Surgeons, nurses and specialists assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) and University of California San Diego’s (UCSD) Advanced Robotics and Controls (ARC) Laboratory participated in a mock damage control craniotomy during two ARTEMIS Project sessions in the hospital’s Simulation Center. The ARTEMIS Project is a collaboration with UCSD’s ARC Laboratory and is partially funded by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command. NMCSD’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
