U.S. Army Col. Gilbert Roldan, the 40th Infantry Division chief of staff, presented Bob Baker, a Korean War veteran and pillar of his San Diego community, with the Bronze Star with "V" device on November 21, 2020, at the Church of the Nativity in Rancho Santa Fe, California. Baker earned the medal for acts of valor from June 10 through 12, 1953, when he safely led a patrol safely though a minefield while simultaneously taking enemy artillery fire.
