Lee County VAMC, located in Cape Coral, Fla., belongs to the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System headquartered in Bay Pines, Fla. Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is one of fifteen additional VA facilities that received an allocation of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine the week of December 21. Bay Pines VA is also one of 113 VA Medical Centers across the country to receive the first limited supply of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Sites receiving the vaccines were identified based on need for the vaccine according to CDC’s 1A prioritization and capacity to store the vaccine at -20◦C. . The vaccine deployed at the Lee County VA facility was developed by Moderna, Inc.
