Each February, the U.S. reflects upon and celebrates the tremendous contributions of African Americans to our great nation. The U.S. Army continues to embrace its commitment to promote diversity, foster inclusive behavior and demonstrate respect for each individual, because the strength of our diverse force is dependent upon ensuring equality for all its members.
Members of The United States Army Field Band and the 82nd Airborne Chorus have come together to honor African American History Month with this rendition of "Lift Every Voice". (U.S.Army video by Robert Piper)

"Love it! Had to learn and sing this song for my middle school graduation. Back then it was referred to as the Negro National Anthem. Thank you James Weldon Johnson"
BoBo0807 -"God Bless America" means ALL Americans. Thank you for your service and your voices! United We Stand!
TerranCrusader - "I would never have guessed the Army had so much art."
MaryMag & Martha - "Oh, Wow! I used to sing this as a child at our Annual COGIC Convocation. I haven’t heard it sung (beautifully, I might add) for close to 60 years. Thanks for reviving beautiful childhood memories."
The U.S. Army Field Band is the pre-eminent strategic community outreach asset in the Army and focuses mesaging on what is topical and important to Army communication efforts when a product is relased. This particular product came just a short time after social equality movements swept across the nation, demanding changes from society at large, but also the US Army as an entity. The relase of this product also came just 3 weeks after the insurrection at the US Capitol . The strategy was to collaborate with a combat unit (more inclusive of the Army internal and external community and stakeholders) while ensuring that the African American community had the representation they deserve in a product intended to honor not just their contributions to the Army, but our society as whole. Secondary goals included bringing attention to the Army's Project Inclusion, recognizing and honoring African American History Month and as always connecting the people of this country with it's Army. Based on the number of views, engagements, downloads (received more than 20 media placements on DVIDS) as well as the Earned Media it generated ( additional audience of 587K valued at $78k) this product not only alogned woith Army strategic communicatoion priotities, but it reached what have traditionally been underserved audiences in the digital space and not only acheived, but exceeded all communicatoion goals set when developing the product.
