The 57th Rescue Squadron at Aviano Air Base, Italy, is one of a handful of rescue squadrons worldwide prepared to respond to an emergency during the launch of NASA and SpaceX's manned shuttles. To prepare for such an eventuality, they took to the skies over Italy - and the ocean - to brush up their skills of day and night parachuting, medical aid and ship boarding, among others.
