Paratroopers from 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division and 16 Air Assault Brigade conducted cold load training with flight crews from the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, teaching them how to safely load a UH-60 Blackhawk with all their equipment, offload quickly and pull security. This training is in preparation for their participation in Exercise Swift Response 21, a multi-national Airborne exercise involving 7,000 Paratroopers from 10 NATO nations and kicking off the #DefenderEurope exercise series.
Swift Response is an annual large-scale U.S. Army-led exercise designed to build strategic and operational readiness while enhancing interoperability between the U.S., NATO allies, and Partner forces in Europe.
The 82nd Airborne Division will execute three multinational Airborne operations to demonstrate strategic readiness, interoperability and resolve to supporting the NATO Alliance during Swift Response 21 (SR21), scheduled to occur May 1-15 across Europe.
More than 7,000 Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division; 173rd Airborne Brigade, the Polish 6th Airborne Brigade, and eight other nations will conduct a series of near simultaneous Joint Forceable Entry (JFE) operations into Estonia, Lithuania, and Romania respectively.
