Fort Hunter Liggett and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) hosted a Boss Lift to enhance understanding and cooperation between Reserve Component service members and their civilian employers, June 12.
Twenty employers from the Bay Area flew out of Moffett Field in a C-130 Hercules provided by the California Air National Guard, which landed at the Paso Robles Airport. They transferred to two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters provided by the 129th Air Wing, Air National Guard.
The Black Hawks landed at Fort Hunter Liggett where the employers were given a briefing by Maj. Gen. Alberto Rosende, 63rd Readiness Division Commanding General; 91st Training Division Commanding General Brig. Gen. Patricia Wallace; and FHL Garrison Commander Col. Charles Bell.
They were also shown how to prepare and eat their MREs (Meals-Ready-to-Eat) before being flown to Landing Zone Black Jack to observe the California National Guard training as part of the Guard’s annual Exportable Combat Training Capability (XCTC).
Capt. Steven Pavlov, Commander of C Company, 1st/160th Infantry Battalion out of the Los Angeles metro area, briefed the employers on what the exercise entailed, and answered questions.
They then boarded the Black Hawks and landed at Schoonover Army Airfield to observe a Combat Support Hospital, which is part of the annual Army Reserve Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX) at Fort Hunter Liggett. They then returned to Moffett Field, with a newfound appreciation of what their Soldiers and Airmen do while in uniform.
